Tomita Sensei

Tomita Sensei was born in February 3, 1942, in Hamamatsu town, Shizuoka prefecture, Japan. He is one of the few Aikido in the world, who has the 8th dan, sihandai. The master who teaches the most delicate aspects of Aikido.

Tomita Sensei started practice Aikido when he was a student in the Tokyo University, where his first teacher was Nisio-Sensei, who was the master with great experience not only in Aikido but also in other types of martial arts. Later Tomita Sensei got deeper knowledge from the very founder of Aikido O’Sensei M.Ueshiba (1883-1969) in his patrimonial estate Iwama. There he met Morihiro Saito Sensei and later became his closest student.

Tomita Sensei had been living in the estate Iwama for 7 years as “uchideshi”, a student that lives, practices and works in the teacher’s dojo and house. In 1969 at the age of 27 with the 4th dan gotten from O’Sensei. Tomita Sensei was invited to Sweden for teaching Aikido in Scandinavia. Soon he opened his dojo in the capital of Sweden – Stockholm, where he teaches Aikido for the students from all over the world.

Tomita Sensei says:

“We should never forget about real aim of Budo, otherwise everything that will be left is children’s game that imitates grown-up seriousness. Unfortunately modern life is moving in this direction, and it is reflected in Aikido. We forgot that above all it is self-defense”.

Takemusu Aiki Tomita Academy was created by Tomita Sensei for preserving the origin and aims of Budo.
